Shredding Party Recap

On May 21st, Guidant Planning hosted its 5th bi-annual Shred Party at Brookside Park. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us, as it was quite windy and overcast. We would like to say thanks to those that endured the windy conditions with us! We served lunch from New Moon Restaurant, located in San Marino. They also have a few more locations spread across the Los Angeles Area. Many clients remembered the original New Moon, when it was located on San Pedro Street a couple of decades ago!

The Shred Party is an event that we really enjoy hosting for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, we know that your documents contain sensitive information and must be disposed of properly. So, this get-together allowed us at Guidant Planning to ensure that these documents are properly disposed of as we shed some light on the dangers of Identity Theft. We provided attendees informational packets that discussed how to prevent Identity Theft. If you would like a packet, contact us, and we will either email or mail a packet out to you.

Next, this event is a great opportunity for our entire office to socialize with all of our wonderful clients and learn more about them and their families. The picnic location was a little farther from the shredding truck than we had hoped. However, the food and family atmosphere made for a beautiful afternoon. It never ceases to amaze us to learn how many of our clients know each other or are related. I truly enjoyed seeing and hearing stories from everyone that made it out to the event. I even heard a group of clients discussing how they had gone to church together for many years, but had never met until Saturday at this event.

Last, this event was an opportunity to do our part to save the environment by recycling paper. After every event, Shred Confidential provides an Environmental Impact report for our shredding events. This year we collected 3,240 pounds of paper, which after being recycled will save 28 trees! By shredding and recycling our documents instead of throwing them away, we prevented over 95 pounds of pollutants from entering the atmosphere.

Thanks again to all those that came and learned of the dangers of Identity Theft, who socialized with all of us, and did their part to help the environment. We will be sending an email soliciting responses for ideas on how to further improve our future Shredding Parties. We look forward to the next shredding party in the Summer of 2018. Start collecting your sensitive information and think of friends or family you may want to invite.
